MSc Students’ Work

This programme has been designed to give education practitioners and those supporting education a hands-on opportunity to explore technology enhanced approaches for their own teaching and training needs. It provides a creative combination of theoretical grounding, conceptual understanding, tailored application and original research related to blended and online learning, teaching, assessment and evaluation. On completion of Year 1 (4 core modules and 1 elective module), with a successful research proposal, participants may progress to complete year 2 of the MSc (2 modules – an applied eLearning project with a journal paper (30 ECTS) and an ePortfolio (15 ECTS)).

Below is a list of the project titles and associated journal papers that the participants produced. 

The MSc programme has been noted by graduates each year as having a very high level of support from tutors across all programme activities. In addition, the MSc programme team are delighted to have also supported a number of participants in authoring papers based on their Applied eLearning projects for publication in peer reviewed journals or for presentation at national and international conferences. We will continue to support such dissemination opportunities across our cohorts.

In previous years, we have used the open source ePortfolio system, Mahara (http://ditportfolios.learnonline.ie/). The ePortfolio enables MSc participants to assemble and demonstrate their evidence of eLearning over the duration of the MSc programme; an example of this is Barry Ryan’s ePortfolioePortfolios

Equally, some participants have created websites to present their evidence of learning, and increasingly more participants are choosing to develop their ePortfolio in alternate platforms:
